Let me take you to a scene. The post-work pub. You're embraced by a friend who's been awaiting your arrival, the bar packed, the question: 'What are you drinking?' You wander down to the table occupied by those who got there before you. Torn beer mats and open bags of crisps. The air alive with conversation, each person ready to engage in arguments and impassioned discussions about the merits and drawbacks of a film they've seen, the depths to which a book has taken them, the food they've made, a place they've eaten, or a record revisited that moved them to the point of tears.
Now, there's a lot of big feelings in there, and that's not always the case. BUT... to exist in that moment, with the people closest to you talking about the things you love, in that palpable energy of a post-work pub or taproom... that right there is magic.
'Tasting Notes' is an attempt to capture just a little piece of that magic in written form, or to provide the fuel for the pints and conversations soon to come. Each article, recipe, and playlist is written/compiled by a friend or colleague who I know has a deep love and passion for the subject at hand.
We'll drink to that.
