To celebrate International Women's Day 2024, we opened up the brewery across 3 days to create 3 beers, brewed by those who identify as women or non-binary and are interested in exploring the industry. In the evenings we also had creative workshops held by local artists Lisa Payne, Sarah Neder and Cheryl Maslen. All topped off by a IWD Celebration in the taproom on the Friday!
A huge thank you to everyone that came along to any of our IWD events, we absolutely loved having you & can't wait to do it all again next year!
A recap of how it went:
Our Brew Days began at 8.30am where we chatted amongst cups of tea and got settled. Then we went over to the brewside to meet the brewers who will walked us through the brewing process from start to finish, answering any questions along the way. After some lunch provided by the amazing Mud Kitchen, we created IWD themed decorations and artwork together as part of a creative workshop with our in-house designer. After moving back over to the brewside to learn more about the ingredients & packaging side of things, the day finished with a guided tasting of some of our fresh beers.

Tuesday 5th March - Still Life Drink & Draw w/ HOP ✍️
House of Payne (AKA HOP), ran by the wonderful Lisa, hosts Life & Still Life Drawing Classes up and down the country, the aim to provide creative, mindful and relaxing experiences whilst connected like-minded people. We drew a variation of still life items, including some brewery themed objects, while sipping pints of fresh beer, the dream!
Wednesday 6th March - Crochet Workshop w/ Josephine Goods 🧶
Sarah, the creative mind behind Josephine Goods, creates beautiful knitted and crocheted accessories by hand, in Manchester. We were really excited to have her run a workshop in the taproom, we learned the ancient techniques of crochet and experienced the relaxing and therapeutic benefits of this creative craft. We chatted as we crocheted and enjoyed beer and pizza together, a very lovely event!
Thursday 7th March - Linocut Print Workshop w/ Cheryl Maslen 🎨
Cheryl is the artist behind the beautiful designs on our Brewer’s Cut labels, first making our connection with when she came to an IWD Brew Day last year, it only felt right to have her share her magic in a workshop in the taproom. In this workshop we delved into the world of Lino printing; learning the process of carving into the Lino, the creation of colours through ink mixing and the inking up and layering of designs. It was wonderful to have Cheryl run her first workshop at the taproom, and here's to many more!
Friday 8th March - IWD Celebration Party - to celebrate the official International Women’s Day, we had a live DJ set from Misscotheque in the taproom, as well as a special IWD Pizza menu from Slice Culture! 🍕🪩
The beers brewed at our IWD Brew Days will all be celebrated at the launch party on 5th April, where we’ll also have live music and a IWD Special What If... menu from Mud Kitchen and Slice Culture. What if Mud Kitchen made pizza? Come & find out! 🍕
